Soccer Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

Mitchell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Polk County Wolverines, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Mitchell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 460th, while Polk County are ranked 95th).

Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8-1. As for Polk County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Mitchell will venture away from home to face off against Owen at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Polk County, they will head out to square off against East Henderson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Polk County will be up against East Henderson's rather soft defense (which has allowed 2.71 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
