Basketball Recap: Sam Sebahar's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hillcrest over Highland

Hillcrest made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Highland, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Huskies fell just short of the Rams by a score of 36-34 on Friday. The loss leaves the Huskies still looking for their first win of the season.

Hillcrest's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Sebahar, who posted nine points and six boards. Sebahar also posted a block, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Abbi Clark, who scored six points.

Highland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Gurgel, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 boards gave Gurgel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Haven Acra, who had 12 points and five steals.

Hillcrest's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Highland, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Coming up, Hillcrest will square off against Hurricane at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Highland, they will challenge Cottonwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Rams' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
