Basketball Game Preview: Washington Academy Raiders vs. Narraguagus Knights

Washington Academy and Narraguagus are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Washington Academy Raiders will finish 2024 at home by hosting the Narraguagus Knights at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Washington Academy is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-30, which was the final score in Washington Academy's tilt against Caribou on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Vikings are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, Narraguagus came into Friday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Woodland 77-31 on Friday. The Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Washington Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Narraguagus, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Washington Academy against Narraguagus in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 64-32 win. Does Washington Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Narraguagus turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
