Softball Recap: La Costa Canyon Takes Down Mission Hills in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only La Costa Canyon walked away with it. They came out on top against the Mission Hills Grizzlies by a score of 10-6 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mavericks considering their one-run performance the game before.

Norah Coulsell made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Malia Whitehouse, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Camacho, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

La Costa Canyon's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-11-1. As for Mission Hills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-12.

Looking ahead, La Costa Canyon will challenge Torrey Pines at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mission Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
