Basketball Recap: Immaculate Conception Academy Comes Up Short

Immaculate Conception Academy lost against Coeur du Christ Academy back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Immaculate Conception Academy Cristeros took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coeur du Christ Academy Saints.

When it comes to explaining why Immaculate Conception Academy lost, don't look at Dominic Demeyer. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 17 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. Those 20 points gave Demeyer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Wilhelm, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Ben Connelly, who went 14 of 33 on his way to 34 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists for Coeur du Christ Academy. The contest was Connelly's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Grant Clemens, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Immaculate Conception Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Coeur du Christ Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Immaculate Conception Academy will square off against Christian Center at 4:30 p.m. on January 18th. One thing working in Immaculate Conception Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for Coeur du Christ Academy, they will challenge Wallace at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
