Preview: Springfield Renaissance vs. Lee Wildcats
Springfield Renaissance will head out on the road to challenge the Lee Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Springfield Renaissance has 11 straight victories, Lee has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Springfield Renaissance put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They breezed by Mount Everett Regional on the road to the tune of 75-23. With Springfield Renaissance ahead 36-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Springfield Renaissance can attribute much of their success to Maya Ocana-saunders, who scored 18 points, and Zi'yan Wallace, who scored 16 points. Jada Marerro was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Lee had to start their season on the road back in December of 2023, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were outmatched by Springfield Renaissance on the road and fell 55-26. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lee in their matchups with Springfield Renaissance: they've now lost three in a row.
Springfield Renaissance's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Lee, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything came up roses for Springfield Renaissance against Lee in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 55-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Springfield Renaissance since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
