Baseball Recap: St. Ignatius College Preparatory Makes It Six in a Row at Home

St. Ignatius College Preparatory hadn't done well against Archbishop Mitty recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wildcats blew past the Monarchs 9-1. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won three in a row.

Chase Gordon looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Archer Horn and Emmett Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Horn went 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs, while Johnson went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and three doubles. Those four hits gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was DJ Delaney, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Mitty, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-15.
