Volleyball Recap: Capistrano Valley Comes Up Short

Capistrano Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chaparral Pumas. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pumas from their previous meeting back in August of 2022.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Capistrano Valley sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-13, 20-25, 15-12.

Chaparral's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shay Roddy, who had ten digs. Another player making a difference was Maya Raza, who had seven digs and two aces.

Capistrano Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Chaparral, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Capistrano Valley has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Notre Dame on the 6th. As for Chaparral, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Marina on the 6th.
