Softball Game Preview: Liberty Patriots vs. Bakersfield Christian Eagles

The Liberty Patriots will head out to square off against the Bakersfield Christian Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Liberty is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over Highland. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Scots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bakersfield Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past Garces Memorial 11-0 last Friday. Considering the Eagles have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Cailee Carr, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Eleni Storm also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Bakersfield Christian's victory was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Liberty came up short against Bakersfield Christian when the teams last played back in March, falling 3-0. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
