Baseball Recap: Lathrop Takes a Loss

Lathrop suffered their closest loss since April 10, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Johansen Vikings by a score of 9-7. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 8-3.

Vaugh Sanchez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Lathrop: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Blase, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Lathrop has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. With the victory, Johansen broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-8-1.
