Basketball Game Preview: Scott Skyhawks vs. Point Pleasant Big Blacks

The Scott Skyhawks will challenge the Point Pleasant Big Blacks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Scott has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 211 points over their last three games.

Scott saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 74-66 to Phelps.

Despite their defeat, Scott saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Colin Williamson, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 24 points along with five boards and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Williamson's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Walls, who posted 18 points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Scott smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Point Pleasant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sissonville. While losing is never fun, the Big Blacks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while the Indians are ranked 72nd).

Scott's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games. As for Point Pleasant, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Scott strolled past Point Pleasant in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 39-22. Does Scott have another victory up their sleeve, or will Point Pleasant turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
