Softball Recap: Saratoga Central Catholic Has No Trouble Against Hoosic Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tamarac, Saratoga Central Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Hoosic Valley Hawks. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Paige Jaffe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Jaffe was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Guidon, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Hailey Ogneiwski was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Saratoga Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Saratoga Central Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Hoosic Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
