Basketball Recap: Greensburg Salem Comes Up Short

Greensburg Salem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-47 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southmoreland Scotties. The Golden Lions lost against the Scotties in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 60-28 score last time.

Southmoreland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Felentzer, who posted 13 points. Ty Whoric was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Greensburg Salem's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Southmoreland, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Greensburg Salem will welcome Hempfield Area at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th. As for Southmoreland, they are taking a road trip to take on East Allegheny at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
