James Wood is a perfect 10-0 against Liberty since September of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Colonels will host the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in James Wood's favor as the team sits on 20 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Liberty has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
While James Wood's victory against Sherando wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Colonels skirted past the Warriors 3-2.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day James Wood got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 21-25, 25-22, 13-25, 15-5.

James Wood found their leader in freshman Macie Hewitt, who had 19 digs and two aces. Those 19 digs set a new season-high mark for Hewitt. Another player making a difference was Bella Middleton, who had 17 assists and four digs.
James Wood was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last six contests.
Meanwhile, Liberty came up short against Kettle Run on Tuesday, falling 3-0.
Liberty took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-11, 25-13.
Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for James Wood, their win bumped their record up to 19-1.
James Wood took their victory against Liberty in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Colonels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
