St. Brendan is 8-2 against TERRA Environmental since December of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Sabres will host TERRA Environmental at 7:30 p.m. St. Brendan is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
St. Brendan is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Immaculata-La Salle on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Sabres took a blow against the Royal Lions, falling 60-31. The Sabres were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-15.
Despite the loss, St. Brendan had strong showings from Olivia Lopez, who posted nine points and five rebounds, and Claudia Luis, who earned seven points. Thalia Acosta also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for TERRA Environmental against Sunset on Wednesday as the team secured a 46-17 victory. TERRA Environmental hasn't had any issues with Sunset recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
TERRA Environmental found their leader in sophomore Genevive Cherington, who had 17 points in addition to six boards and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Cherington has scored at least a third of TERRA Environmental's points. Audrey Vega was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.
TERRA Environmental smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.
TERRA Environmental's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for St. Brendan, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: St. Brendan has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like TERRA Environmental struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
St. Brendan didn't have too much breathing room in their game against TERRA Environmental when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 51-46 win.
