Volleyball Recap: La Vernia's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was a good run, but La Vernia unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Johnson Jaguars by a score of 2-1. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Karis Carpenter and Madelynn Nagelmueller certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Carpenter had 13 digs and three assists, while Nagelmueller had 14 assists and seven digs.

Johnson found their leader in sophomore Jenna Tello, who had ten digs and four aces.

La Vernia's defeat dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Johnson, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

La Vernia has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Madison on the 29th. As for Johnson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Davenport on the 29th.
