Football Game Preview: Law Lawmen vs. Notre Dame Green Knights

The Law Lawmen will head out to take on the Notre Dame Green Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Law came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 49-21 loss at the hands of Killingly. While losing is never fun, the Lawmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Trailbazers are ranked eighth).

Law's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Matthew Witteman, who threw for 213 yards and a pair of TDs, and Brian Gonzalez, who picked up 152 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by Greenwich 38-7.

Notre Dame didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cody Wieland and Jace Fredette.

Having lost for the first time this season, Law fell to 2-1. As for Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Law has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 416 total yards per game. It's a different story for Notre Dame, though, as they've been averaging only 195.3 total yards. Will Law be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Green Knights flip the script?

Law was able to grind out a solid victory over Notre Dame in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, winning 41-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lawmen since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
