Softball Recap: South Newton Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

South Newton's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the DeMotte Christian Knights. With that win, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Briley Iseminger made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cora Groover, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Violet Buckley also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

South Newton's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for DeMotte Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Newton will challenge Iroquois West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for DeMotte Christian, they will face off against Marquette Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
