Baseball Game Preview: Sonoma Valley Dragons vs. American Canyon Wolves

The Sonoma Valley Dragons will square off against the American Canyon Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Sonoma Valley headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but American Canyon let them put that streak behind them. The Dragons walked away with an 11-7 win over the Wolves on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Dragons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Henry Foster looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cayden Waldrop, who went 2-for-5 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chris Murphy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Sonoma Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for American Canyon and nudges their season record down to 8-11. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Sonoma Valley, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-15.
