Basketball Recap: Rossville Comes Up Short

Rossville has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a blow against the Seeger Patriots on Tuesday, falling 61-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hornets have suffered since December 15, 2023.

Despite the defeat, Rossville had strong showings from Ava Burkle, who posted 14 points and eight boards, and Addi Burton, who had seven points. Burkle has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Brielle Layton also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Seeger found their leader in sophomore Cadence White, who went 11 for 19 on her way to 28 points and four steals. With that strong performance, White is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Lorelei Lanie, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards.

Rossville's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Seeger, their record now sits at 9-12.

Rossville will welcome Tipton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rossville is facing Tipton at the right time seeing as Tipton is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Seeger, they will venture away from home to take on Attica at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
