Baseball Recap: California Lutheran Has No Trouble Against Sherman Indian

After only one run in their last matchup, California Lutheran made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sherman Indian on Tuesday. The C-Hawks put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the C-Hawks, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Colton McGee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, California Lutheran got a massive performance out of Christian Sutton, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Sutton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mathias Galanos, who scored four runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-4.

California Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Sherman Indian, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. California Lutheran will challenge United Christian Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The C-Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Sherman Indian, they will take on California Military Institute at 3:15 p.m. on the 16th.
