Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ryland Forks and Shaan Patel Lead Fulshear to Victory

Fulshear entered their tilt with Alief Taylor on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 34-11 victory. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Lions are ranked 458th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Fulshear's win came down to the chemistry between Shaan Patel and his top target Ryland Forks. Patel threw for 355 yards and five TDs while completing 95.8% of his passes while Forks picked up 161 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Patel's passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 319 passing yards. Trey Clewis also helped out as he racked up 113 receiving yards.

Fulshear didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Alief Taylor to a completion percentage of just 36.4%. The team can thank Evan Ferns for the heroic effort on defense: he. Given Patel's standout performance, it's clear Alief Taylor's secondary just wasn't on the same level.

Fulshear's defense didn't let Nick Kongolo, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. Dieko Ojajuni was especially locked on to Alief Taylor's QB and sacked him twice. Thanks to that big game, Ojajuni is now up to 5.5 sacks on the season.

Fulshear now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Alief Taylor, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coincidentally, Fulshear and Alief Taylor will both be playing Alief Hastings the next time they take the field. The Chargers will host the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Lions will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 9th.
