Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Pioneer

Pioneer extended their winning streak to five on Monday, bumping their season record up to 16-4 in the process. They came out on top against the Lincoln Fighting Zebras by a score of 4-0. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Jia Beebe's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Marisa Bryson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Abril Parker also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.

On Lincoln's side, Ava Ornelas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Lincoln saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlotte Grandin, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Looking ahead, Pioneer will face off against Vacaville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
