Basketball Recap: Austintown-Fitch Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mayfield last Friday, Austintown-Fitch came back down to earth. The Austintown-Fitch Falcons took a blow against the Ursuline Fighting Irish on Tuesday, falling 87-53. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Irish apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Despite the loss, Austintown-Fitch still got an impressive performance from Ej Giles, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Giles a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justyn Glover, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Austintown-Fitch's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Ursuline, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

When Austintown-Fitch and Ursuline next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Austintown-Fitch will try to stop Cardinal Mooney's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Austintown-Fitch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.8 points per game this season. Similarly, Ursuline will try to stop Harding's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
