Basketball Recap: Heritage Christian Comes Up Short

Heritage Christian entered their contest against Sedgwick County on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The game between the Eagles and the Cougars didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 49-32. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Heritage Christian lost, don't look at Samantha Snow. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points in addition to eight blocks and six boards. Snow is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Caleigh Smith, who put up four points.

It was another big night for Lainee Nein, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds for Sedgwick County. Nein also grabbed six steals, which is notable because the Cougars are undefeated when she posts at least three steals, but 4-5 otherwise. Ryen Carlson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Heritage Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Sedgwick County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Heritage Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-35 win against Loveland Classical on the 12th. As for Sedgwick County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-34 victory against Holyoke on the 13th.
