Softball Recap: Bishop Eustace Prep Sets Scoring Season-High Against Seneca

Bishop Eustace Prep extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They lost 17-3 to the Seneca Golden Eagles. On the bright side, the three- run performance marked the Crusaders' highest-scoring match to date.

As for Seneca, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

For Seneca's part, Ava Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Rodriguez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Seneca got a massive performance out of Alyssa Maybury, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Maybury a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Buddendorf, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Bishop Eustace Prep will take on Winslow Township at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Seneca, they will venture away from home to face off against Haddon Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
