Volleyball Game Preview: John Marshall Monarchs vs. Morgantown Mohigans

John Marshall is 0-10 against Morgantown since October of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Monarchs will challenge the Mohigans at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as John Marshall comes in on three and Morgantown on six.

On Thursday, John Marshall was able to grind out a solid victory over Grafton, taking the game 2-0.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant John Marshall was: they took both sets by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-14.

Meanwhile, Morgantown faced John Marshall in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Saturday. The Mohigans came out on top against the Monarchs by a score of 3-1.

John Marshall better keep an eye on Audrey Tompkins. She was instrumental in Morgantown's win, getting ten digs and six assists. Those six assists gave Tompkins a new career-high. Derika Nestor also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Morgantown's win bumped their record up to 26-4-1. As for John Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6-3.

John Marshall couldn't quite get it done against Morgantown in their previous meeting last Saturday as they fell 3-1. Can the Monarchs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
