North Branch dropped down to 28-11 on Saturday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the South Lyon East Cougars by a score of 2-1. If the Broncos were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in September of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.
North Branch's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Haley Henry, who had 12 digs and two aces, and Addison Franklin, who had ten digs and two assists.
As for South Lyon East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 22 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-7-1 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since September 20th.
South Lyon East can attribute much of their success to Avery Stepp, who had 18 digs and two assists. Those 18 digs gave Stepp a new career-high.
North Branch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Imlay City on the 21st. As for South Lyon East, they will welcome Mercy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
