Basketball Recap: Deseret Peak Takes a Loss

Deseret Peak played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 60-20 defeat at the hands of the Mountain Crest Mustangs. The game marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Mountain Crest was led to victory by Easton Pugmire and Jackson Branz. Pugmire went 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points and seven boards, while Branz shot 56% from the field on his way to 12 points. Tyler Baldwin was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Deseret Peak's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Mountain Crest, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Deseret Peak will take on Stansbury in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will be up against the Stallions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.38 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Mountain Crest, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-40 defeat against Roy on the 13th.
