MaxPreps Top 50 high school football scores: No. 1 IMG Academy improves to 4-0

IMG Academy wins big over Life Christian Academy setting up huge showdown in Texas against No. 6 Duncanville on Oct. 10.

No. 1 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) rolled past Life Christian Academy (Chester, Va.), 52-8. The win sets up a huge showdown against No. 6 Duncanville (Texas) at Globe Life Park (Arlington) on Oct. 10. The Panthers beat South Oak Cliff (Dallas) 41-3 in their season opener.

The game of the week came down to the wire as No. 17 Denton Ryan held on to beat No. 29 Denton Guyer in a huge Texas high school football matchup. Texas commit Billy Bowman accounted for two touchdowns in the 23-20 win. 

No. 31 Hoover (Ala.) outscored No. 48 Hewitt-Trussville (Trussville, Ala.) 13-0 in the final 17 minutes to pull out the 29-28 victory. The Bucs improved to 7-0 on the season and up next is Spain Park (Hoover, Ala.) on Oct. 9.

Two Top 50 teams went down against unranked opponents on Friday as No. 30 Shadow Creek (Pearland, Texas) could not overcome playing without 2021 Baylor commit Kyron Drones and lost against Bridgeland (Cypress, Texas), 27-21.



Lone Peak (Highland, Utah) handed No. 45 Skyridge (Lehi, Utah) its first loss of the season in the other upset of the week.

No. 24 Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) beat No. 28 St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, N.J.) in the biggest game on Saturday, 24-21. Ryan Butler accounted for all three Crusader touchdowns while 3-star running back Audric Estime rushed for three scores in a losing effort.

No. 44 Massillon Washington (Ohio) ended the regular season 5-1 after beating rival McKinley (Canton, Ohio), 35-7.
