Jones hasn't had much luck against Taft recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Jones will venture away from home to face off against Taft at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Jones' win against Kennedy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles skirted past the Crusaders 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won four in a row.
Meghan Pierce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks.
At the plate, Delaney Treccia was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Amanda Lopez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Jones was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Taft, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Steinmetz College Prep on Friday as they made off with an 18-2 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Michaela Power made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haley Eccarius, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Victoria Perez, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Jones' record now sits at 4-10. As for Taft, their record is now 18-5.
Jones might still be hurting after the 16-6 defeat they got from Taft in their previous matchup back in March. Can Jones avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
