Soccer Recap: St. Margaret's Comes Up Short

St. Margaret fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Channel Islands on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Channel Islands Raiders by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Friday.

St. Margaret's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Channel Islands, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

St. Margaret's and Channel Islands are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. St. Margaret's will host St. Monica at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Margaret's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for nine straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end. As for Channel Islands, they will venture away from home to challenge Laguna Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
