It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mercersburg Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Kiski School Cougars 8-7. The win continues a trend for the Storm in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.

Ben Samuels and Gavin Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Samuels went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Williams got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave Samuels a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Wishard, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mercersburg Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Mercersburg Academy's record is now 2-9-1. As for Kiski School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mercersburg Academy will host Peddie at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kiski School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against River Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
