Basketball Recap: Conroe Comes Up Short

Conroe played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Willis Wildkats 70-35. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildkats earlier this season, when they won 62-56.

It was another big night for SJ Young, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds for Willis. Young has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rondell Lewis, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Conroe's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-17. As for Willis, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-9.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Conroe Tigers face off against the Caney Creek Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Conroe is facing Caney Creek at the right time seeing as Caney Creek is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Willis, they will head out to take on Oak Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Willis' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.
