League recap: Cathedral Prep extends winning streak with victory over Oil City

District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA recap November 19, 2013

Cathedral Prep added to the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA this week by beating Oil City, 70-26. The victory was the 11th in a row for the Ramblers.

General McLane moved up to 100 from 135 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lancers were able to move up by topping Slippery Rock 35-15.

General McLane's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Fox threw for 98 and 1 touchdown and Clay Smith had 48 yards receiving. On the ground Tyler Sanders chipped in 161 yards. Chris Laird helped General McLane's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 20 yards.

Jim Wells' team's dynamic duo of Fox and Smith proved to be unstoppable against the Rockets, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Laird helped General McLane's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 20 yards.

Sanders was a passing and rushing force as the Lancers bested Slippery Rock. Sanders' favorite target this week was Smith, who caught 2 passes for 48 yards.

Sanders made the biggest impact on defense this week as General McLane topped Brendan Hathaway's team. The 5-foot-9 senior nabbed 1 interception and forced 1 fumble.

Cathedral Prep's Billy Fessler and Felix Manus-Schell have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Fessler has thrown for 2,418 yards this season, while Manus-Schell has 30 catches for 590 yards. Sanders from the Lancers leads the league in rushing with 1,458 yards.

The top two teams in District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA will face off this week when first place Cathedral Prep takes on second place General McLane. Michael Mischler's team topped the Oilers last week, while General McLane defeated the Rockets.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Ramblers' Manus-Schell goes up against the Lancers' Smith.

Next week's game between Cathedral Prep and General McLane will feature a good passing match up as Fessler will test his arm against Smith's defensive ability.

There should be lots of points scored when the Lancers and the Ramblers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, General McLane comes in having scored 441 this season, while Cathedral Prep has scored 501. The Lancers scored 35 points last week as they topped Slippery Rock.

The Ramblers took down Oil City 70-26 last week, the largest margin of any game.
