Given Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Saint Francis is ranked 497th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fedrick Pernell was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Kennedy, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory and bumps their season record up to 9-7. As for Saint Francis, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory will take on Archbishop Riordan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Saint Francis, they will head out on the road to square off against Bellarmine College Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellarmine College Prep is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
