Baseball Recap: Newman International Academy Extends Winning Streak to Four

Newman International Academy entered their tilt with Village Tech on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Viper Squids 26-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-4 last Thursday.

Newman International Academy got a massive performance out of Rey Galvan, who scored four runs and stole nine bases while going 3-for-3. With that strong performance, Galvan is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Caleb Palmer, who scored four runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3.

Newman International Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .696. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Newman International Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Village Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Newman International Academy will square off against Wylie Prep Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a three-game losing streak. Village Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
