Preview: Newton HomeSchool Panthers vs. Chanute Christian
The Newton HomeSchool Panthers will be playing at home against Chanute Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Newton HomeSchool focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday.
Newton HomeSchool has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They managed a 55-49 victory over Non Varsity Opponent.
Jaquale Schumm continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 30 rebounds. Schumm is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alex Bungard, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, sadly, Chanute Christian is still looking for their first win of the season after eight matchups. They were beaten by Tyro Christian 66-26 on Tuesday.
Newton HomeSchool's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Chanute Christian, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
