Baseball Game Preview: Saddleback Roadrunners vs. Santiago Cavaliers

For the second straight game, Saddleback will face off against Santiago. The Roadrunners will be playing at home against the Cavaliers at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Saddleback's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Santiago has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Last Tuesday, Saddleback didn't have quite enough to beat Santiago and fell 4-3.

For Santiago's part, Nhat Jr. Huynh tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Chris Arceo and Alex Santillano did most of the damage at the plate: Arceo went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Santillano scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Daniel Thomas Romero, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Santiago always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .561 or higher in four consecutive games.

Saddleback's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9-1. As for Santiago, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saddleback hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Santiago struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
