Volleyball Game Preview: Gulliver Prep Raiders vs. Mater Dei Monarchs

The Gulliver Prep Raiders will take on the Mater Dei Monarchs in a tournament on Friday.

Gulliver Prep unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to Divine Savior Academy last Monday.

Gulliver Prep was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Divine Savior Academy work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 27-25, 25-22.

Gulliver Prep's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mia Lavalle, who had 12 digs and two assists, and Daniela Torre Blanes, who had 12 assists and three digs. Lavalle has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Celtics by a score of 3-1.
