Softball Preview: Old Fort Stockaders vs. Woodmore Wildcats

The Old Fort Stockaders will head out on the road to square off against the Woodmore Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Old Fort is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Old Fort scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 22-4 margin over St. Mary Central Catholic. With that victory, Old Fort brought their scoring average up to 8.5 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Abbi Ward, who scored five runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Lou Ward, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Woodmore pushed their score to 14 the last time they played they, but on Saturday they couldn't quite do it again. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Port Clinton. The victory was just what Woodmore needed coming off of a 12-0 loss in their prior contest.

Old Fort made their fans wait, but they earned their first win of the season to make their record 1-3. As for Woodmore, their record is now 3-1.
