Softball Recap: Douglas Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Douglas's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Damonte Ranch Mustangs 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Haylie Pledger made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Pledger was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Douglas let Camryn McLelland and Annie Hill run wild. McLelland scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Hill scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Hill a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa McLelland, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Douglas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Damonte Ranch only posted an OBP of .391.

Douglas has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Damonte Ranch, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-11.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Douglas is set to take on their familiar foe Galena at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch will face off against rival Reed at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
