Baseball Recap: Unity Reed Lions vs. Freedom Eagles

Unity Reed fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Freedom on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Freedom Eagles by a score of 10-9. Unity Reed was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Freedom apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March.

For Freedom's part, Ezekial Siwa Lao made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit, only two earned runs while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Siwa Lao was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing six bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Louis Boone was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and a double.

Unity Reed are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5. As for Freedom, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-13.

As for Freedom, they will head out on the road to challenge Charles J. Colgan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
