Softball Recap: Gadsden Takes a Loss

Gadsden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 11-6 to the Las Cruces Bulldawgs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldawgs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 last Monday.

Krystal Lucero and Kayleigh Vasquez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lucero scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Vasquez scored a run while going 2-for-4. Brianna Flores also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Gadsden's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Las Cruces, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bulldawgs beat Gadsden by a score of 12-1 later that day.
