Baseball Recap: Duval Charter Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against University Christian, Duval Charter was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Old Plank Christian Academy Defenders 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Defenders: they've now won seven in a row.

Duval Charter got a great performance from Michael Grimaldi as he struck out 13 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance gave Grimaldi a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Pergament, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Isaac Alvarez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Duval Charter now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Old Plank Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Duval Charter will be playing at home against Harvest Community at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Duval Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Old Plank Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge St. Joseph Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Joseph Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Old Plank Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
