Baseball Recap: Northeastern Bobcats vs. South Western Mustangs

Northeastern won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 8-1 walloping at the hands of the South Western Mustangs. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Northeastern has scored all season.

Northeastern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quinn Shindler, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

On South Western's side, Carlos Caraballo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Caraballo was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with a double and an RBI.

In other batting news, Cade Baumgardner was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Landen Eyster, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Northeastern now has a losing record at 2-3. As for South Western, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Northeastern will head out on the road to take on Dallastown at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Western, they will play host again on Tuesday to welcome Eastern York, where first pitch is scheduled at 4:15 p.m.
