Basketball Recap: Brighton Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Micah Spotts and Austin Sickler

Brighton played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 81-59 to the Mountain Range Mustangs. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Brighton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Austin Sickler, who went 9 for 21 en route to 24 points in addition to seven assists and six boards, and Micah Spotts, who went 5 of 7 to rack up 14 points. What's more, Spotts also posted a 71% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2023. Isaac Vigil was another key player, putting up six points.

Mountain Range was led to victory by Preston Brunton and Moses West. Brunton went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 40 points, while West dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds. The contest was West's 12th in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeramiah Chavez, who posted seven points and ten assists.

Brighton's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Mountain Range, they pushed their record up to 8-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Brighton has already played their next game, a 69-58 loss against Prairie View on the 6th. As for Mountain Range, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-73 defeat against Boulder on the 6th.
