Baseball Recap: Bigelow Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Bigelow barely beat Danville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Little Johns on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Arturo Cabrera and Easton Platt were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Cabrera tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Platt struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Cabrera went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Platt went 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Howell, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Bigelow kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Bigelow's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Danville, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bigelow will head out to take on Perryville at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Danville, they will challenge Subiaco Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
