Baseball Recap: Palestine-Wheatley Extends Winning Streak to Three

Palestine-Wheatley waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the England Lions with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Andrew Knowlton made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Palestine-Wheatley got a massive performance out of Blaine Brown, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Brown has hit this season. Jacob Hickman was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Palestine-Wheatley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Palestine-Wheatley pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for England, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Palestine-Wheatley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
