Soccer Recap: Alameda Extends Winning Streak to Two

Alameda had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their defense stepped up to hand the Richmond Oilers a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Oilers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.

Weslesy Butterfield and Jayson Wu scored both of Alameda's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

The victory made it two in a row for Alameda and bumps their season record up to 15-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matches. As for Richmond, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.

Looking ahead, Alameda will challenge Clayton Valley Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clayton Valley Charter will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Alameda surely won't give up without a fight. Richmond does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
